St. Emilion Goodbye- Hello, Paris!

(August 5-9, 2023)

We rolled our suitcases down the hill to the train station early in the morning to hop a train going west to Bordeaux. As our suitcases on wheels rumbled over the cobblestones at 7:30AM, we wished an older gentleman a cheery "bonjour!" He, in turn, accused us of being the the uncaring and rude people who had disturbed his sleep last night by rolling their wheeled suitcases over the cobblestones. He was a doctor for gosh sake! And had a brass plaque on his door to prove it! This was not a great way to start the day, but we moved on without further comment. I have to tell you that seeing the vast vineyards in the hills and enjoying the coolness and serenity of the morning as we rolled along was akin to a religious experience.

Friends, I just discovered this draft blog that I forgot about. Today is Sept. 4 and we left paris 3 cities ago. As you know we were very excited to get to Paris. Let's get real...who isn't? Paris the ultimate world-class city! This morning I was on my phone and up popped a cool photo of the gorgeous Catherine Deneuve drinking coffee outside at a little table with a black leather jacket and dark sunglasses. This woman won the genetics lottery equal to the billion $$ powerball. Just saying....She is the ultimate Parisian.
